Hello, where to begin, belated Happy New Year to one and all. We celebrated by seeing the Hobbit on New Years Day, we thought it was great. In all, we have had a lovely Christmas and New Year and I am enjoying the last few days of my holiday with T. I mentioned in my last post that we had received some fantastic news. Well, I have come into some money, we are very fortunate. It will be enough to pay off some of our debt, which will really make a difference to our budget. We will be able to save about £300 a month, which will be  redirected towards the rest of the debt. The load is definitely lighter and the burden of debt will get lighter alot quicker now.

Continuing on the theme of money, we are continuing to work on improving our money management. What have we done so far:
  • cancelled unnecessary direct debits
  • returned to the envelope system for food/petrol etc
  • returned to menu planning and shopping lists
  • returned to sticking to a weekly food budget
  • keeping a record of every penny we spend

Still to go is continuing to sell anything unwanted, monitor our spending and improve our frugal living skills. I am also hoping to be able to start paying into our pensions again and increase our debt repayments. I'm hoping that this year will be better for us and we have turned a corner and see a small chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

Blessings x
